1894 Wood Engraving Black Hole Calcutta Fort William India British Charles XGGC5 XGIC4 Sales PromotionThis is an original 1894 black and white wood engraving of an exterior and frightening view of the dungeon at Fort William in Calcutta (Kolkatta), India during British rule popularly called "The Black Hole of Calcutta." It was a place that was only suited to house two to three prisoners with only two windows lined with iron bars that was often overcrowded but never so badly as when Nawab rebels overthrew British rule in the region and imprisoned all
