This was part of a line of posters released during World War I that advertised to women who wanted to take on a more active role during wartime. At a time when women were still not allowed to enlist in the Armed Forces, this was the most beneficial service one could provide. the poster depicts a nurse sheltering a young girl from the horrors of war, namely
