which I believe holds cork inside the hand-knotted macrame exterior

yielding unexpected choices such as the fantastic use of silver paint for that  jacket

from the pink and teal outfit

Baldwin in 1850, perhaps most of all for the tiny chair, and maybe a little table too, just waiting for this figures arrival at the top of the hill! An unexpected detail, but exactly the right thing to give this drawing a narrative arc, and to place all of our empathy with this hatted figure, cane in one hand and other in his pocket, as he slowly makes his way. Love. Framed: 11
