The cap is constructed from Luftwaffe blue gray Fliegerblau whipcord wool with a wide black wool cap band and three rows of goldgelb, or Gold Yellow, piping for the Flight Branch. It retains its original crown stiffener, aluminum insignia, enlisted black leather
