Constructed of gilded tombak, the obverse consisting of an oval oak leaf wreath, joined together at the bottom by a banner bearing a depressed and blackened inscription of GAU BADEN, surrounding an NSDAP style German national eagle clutching a wreathed mobile swastika, the reverse with a clip hinge and vertical pinback meeting a rounde catch, maker marked FR. KLETT, KARLSRUHE, measuring 35. 06 mm (w) x 45. 69 mm (h),
