An Italian Cedar Wood Statue Lighting double sidedA carved cedar wood monk standing with both arms outstretched. The beautifully grained timber with "Shou Sugi" work to the suface. Italy, Circa 1948, lead tag "Repvbblica Italiana, Contemp en Verona". Height 5ft (152. 5cm). Depth 15in (38cm). Width 19in (48cm). Shou Sugi is an 18th century Japamnese technique of preserving wood by charring. Plinth shown for display only, not for sale.
